  • Served 209 clients in San Miguel County and the West End of Montrose County

    • 126 victims of domestic violence

    • 33 victims of sexual assault

    • 50 victims of other assault

    • 54 Hispanic clients

    • 57 West End clients

  •  Facilitated 337 youth-targeted presentations

  •  Facilitated 120 community outreach/awareness events

  •  2,124 phone contacts with clients

  •  1,226 in person contacts with clients


Domestic Violence Statisctics

  • A recent Commonwealth Fund Report reveals that one-third of American women report being physically or sexually abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives.

  • Statistics reveal that as many 30 to 60 percent of children living in violent homes also suffer from abuse

  • Men who witness their mother’s abuse are 700 times more likely to beat their female partners. Every 37.8 seconds in America a man is battered, which is more than 830,000 men a year who fall victim to domestic violence

  • 30 percent of Americans say they know a woman who has been physically abused by her husband or boyfriend in the past year.

  • At least 3 women are murdered by their husbands and boyfriends in this country every day.

Sexual Assault Statistics

  • According to FBI estimates, 1 in 3 women will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime.

  • 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually assaulted before age 18.

  • 4 out of 5 rape victims/survivors know their attacker.

  • 10% of sexual assault victims are men in the US.

  • 70 percent of all rapes involve the use of alcohol and drugs.

  • 1 in 4 sexual assaults occur in the victim’s home, making it the most common place for an assault to occur.

  • Only 16 percent of rapes are reported to law enforcement.
